Caras of the Americas is a non-profit organization incorporated in Washington, D.C. and registered in Puerto Rico (see organization’s information). The organization was founded in 2004 by a group of university students with the goal of offering community service experiences in the Americas that included educational and cultural exchange opportunities while contributing in a meaningful way to the communities visited.
Since its founding Caras, has carried out international programs with the participation of university students and professionals from the United States and Puerto Rico. Caras has worked with communities in Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru. Since 2008 we have focused our international work in 9 Mayan communities in Guatemala and 3 communities in Puerto Rico.
